BAVARIAN SPRING FLOWERS
In 2015 Hans re-visited the spring flowers of his childhood home in southern Germany and was
lucky to encounter nearly the full complement of attractive native plants that flower in
the deciduous forest, on dry hillsides, in wet meadows and even the first flush of flowers
on alpine pastures. Come and enjoy this photo presentation where he will explain the
ecological settings within which these plants occur and have survived throughout the
centuries. Many will be familiar to those who grow alpine and woodland plants.

THE ROCK GARDENS OF THE CZECH REPUBLIC
The whole world is currently looking towards the Czech Republic as leaders and innovators of modern day rock gardening. In May of 2017, Paul Spriggs travelled here for the 3rd International Czech Rock gardening conference held in the historic village of Průhonice, on the outskirts of Prague. Part of the conference was a tour of a number of gardens in and around the capital. However, after the conference Paul was treated to another private tour, which took him to all corners of the country to view the crème –de -la-crème of modern Czech rock gardens. This presentation will offer a peek into some less accessible and rarely seen gardens of some of the world’s most accomplished rock gardeners.
Paul Spriggs is an avid rock gardening enthusiast, mountaineer, and current Vice-President of the Vancouver Island Rock and Alpine Garden Society.

BIOGRAPHY FOR JULIA CORDEN
For the past 15 years Julia has been the Garden Manager of THE EXPLORERS GARDEN located in Pitlochry, Scotland.
She has been a botanical/garden guide for Brightwater Holidays as well as leading tours for the AGS, RHS AND SRGC to many divers parts of the world.
Having been involved in horticulture for over 35 years Julia is now the President Elect of the
Scottish Rock Garden Club. She will assume the position of President in November 2018.

SILENT AUCTION: Please bring plants — a few of your choice plants or related items for the lively auction that concludes the event. This is a major fundraiser for the club so please be generous. We will have a Silent Auction this year to speed up proceedings.
